Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of non-traditional materials. Library of things can include tools, games, electronics, and more - all available to check out for free with a library card. Want to try a new hobby before committing to expensive equipment? Need a tool for a one time project?
Any cardholder may borrow an item from the Library of Things collection. Available Library of Things items may be checked at the front desk. Some available Library of Things may be represented by a place card, to check them out, take the place card up to the circulation desk where the library staff will retrieve your Thing. If the Thing is not currently available, you may place a hold on the item, and you will be notified when it is ready for checkout. All Library of Things collection items must be picked up and returned during normal business hours. Library of Things cannot be returned through the drop box. Some Library of Things will require a waiver for checkout.
We want to expand our offerings, and you can help with things you already have. Please contact the library at 989-652-8323 prior to donating. Items must be in good working condition, with all required parts, and be easily reusable. Please do not drop off items without checking first. If we cannot use an item, it may be sold at our annual sale or otherwise disposed of.
We also have an Amazon wish list if you’d like to see the full list of items we’re considering, and suggestions are also appreciated. You can purchase items wherever you like, or we also accept monetary donations to buy Things.
